After studying at the Regional Conservatory in Toulouse in the class of Paul Millischer and later René-Gilles Rousselot, Clemént Formatché became a student of Frederic Presle at the Pole Superieur de Paris Boulogne-Billancourt before joining Reinhold Friedrich’s class at the Karlsruhe Music Academy in 2009.
In 2008 he was a member of the Orchestre Français des Jeunes under Kwamé Rayan; in 2011 he played with the Orchestre du capitole de Toulouse under Tugan Sokiev.
In Toulouse, he discovered his love for baroque music playing with the ensemble ›les Sacqueboutiers‹, and began to play baroque trumpet and cornett. He continued to study the latter under Edward H. Tarr and Michael Maisch at the Karlsruhe Music Academy.
His education in Karlsruhe led him to explore the contemporary music repertoire. He works regularly with the Ensemble Klangforum in Heidelberg and participated in the Lucerne Academy three times, where he performed under the batons of Pierre Boulez, Simon Rattle, Peter Eötvös and Matthias Pintscher.
